“PLEASE FORGIVE OUR SHORTCOMINGS” — GOVERNOR NWIFURU APPEALS FOR SUPPORT AS EBONYI MARKS 3 YEARS IN OFFICE.
Reports circulating on social media, particularly from Twitter users, and details originally published by Vanguard Newspaper have highlighted remarks made by Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, during a thanksgiving service marking his third year in office.
The event, held at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki, brought together top political leaders, religious figures, government officials, and other stakeholders to reflect on the journey of the administration so far.
During his address, Governor Nwifuru made an emotional appeal to residents of the state, asking for forgiveness over what he described as shortcomings in governance by his administration and other elected representatives at both state and national levels.
In his words, he urged the people to remain supportive despite challenges, saying: “Please forgive us; forgive me and the National Assembly members and the House of Assembly members. Forgive our shortcomings and vote for us again.”
His statement quickly gained attention online, especially on Twitter, where users widely shared and discussed the message, while major media platforms including Vanguard Newspaper also reported on the development.
The governor stressed that governance is a continuous learning process and admitted that no administration can be perfect. He explained that leadership often involves mistakes, corrections, and gradual improvement based on public feedback and experience.
He further reflected on the progress recorded by his administration over the past three years, noting that efforts have been made in areas such as infrastructure development, public service delivery, and social welfare programmes across Ebonyi State.
According to him, while achievements have been recorded, his government remains focused on doing more and ensuring that ongoing projects translate into real benefits for citizens.
Governor Nwifuru also reaffirmed his commitment to expanding development initiatives across the state, promising continued investment in programmes aimed at improving the welfare and living standards of residents.
The thanksgiving service also featured the presence of prominent political figures, including former governors such as the Minister of Works, David Umahi, former Governor Martin Elechi, serving senators, and other political stakeholders who joined in the anniversary celebration.
The atmosphere at the event was described as both reflective and celebratory, with discussions focusing on governance achievements, challenges, and expectations for the years ahead.
As the ceremony concluded, the governor’s message remained centered on unity, forgiveness, and continued cooperation between the government and the people of Ebonyi State.
Overall, the anniversary served as both a milestone celebration and a moment of public reflection on leadership, accountability, and the journey of democratic governance in the state.
And see you on the next one …
